Safari 4 beta and Hotmail Fix

We ran across this issue in the Safari 4 build and the problems occurs when trying to check your Hotmail Account online. You will be able to log in and see your messages but not click or read anything.

Here is the fix for now if you chose to upgrade and try the new Safari.

Once Safari is open go to Safari/Preference Menu. Once your in there go to the Advanced Tab and check the Option to "Show Develop menu in menu bar"

Now you can click back to Safari and you should see a Develop Menu in the Finder bar. Click on the Develop Menu and at the Top as one of the Menu Options scroll down to User Agent and choose a Firefox Selection.

Your Hotmail should now work accordingly and you should be able to read and answer emails.

Yes we noticed that as well and due to the fact that its a beta version of Safari we have found other issues with Hotmail as well. If you want to try other User Agents it won't hurt anything but for now we have been configuring most clients to use Apple Mail! You can now configure your Hotmail Account to directly receive and send emails within the Mail program. It works great and have not had any issues yet in doing this.

Here is some guidelines to setup in Apple Mail

POP3 server: pop3.live.com
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Username: full e-mail address
Password: Windows Live ID password

Authentication and the use of SSL are required for both POP3 and SMTP protocols.

Good Luck

Here is something you should double check. Go to your Mail Settings and under the Advanced Tab make sure you have the Authentication set to Password and "Use SSL" is checked. You should also double check your Outgoing Server "Advanced" options and make sure that is set to "Password" as well and the information there is correct.

Good Luck
