Setting up Hotmail in Apple Mail

Finally Hotmail in Apple Mail!! If you haven't set this up already here is a quick walkthrough on getting setup.


Start Mail

Go to Mail » Preferences, and click on Accounts.
Click on the plus button (lower left) to add a new account.
Type must say POP, and give the account a description.

Account Info:

Incoming Mail Server: pop3.live.com
Username: Your Hotmail address (with @hotmail.com)
Password: Your Hotmail password
Click on Continue

Set the Outgoing Server to smtp.live.com



You should be good to go sync, send, and get your emails

That is a great tip but did you checked that if your hotmail been able to sent emails. Because set up mine , no problems with receiving but when I try to send it fails.If you know the answer please write it down.

You might just need to go into your Preferences in Mail and click on the Hotmail Account you created then click on the Advanced Tab. Once in there you need to make sure that it is set to "Authentification/Password" and you can also check the "Use SSL" option. If that is not setup you just need to go and fill in that information and you should be setup.
